-
To demonstrate awareness of how buildings are developed in response to practical considerations.•
-
To demonstrate construction manual drawing.
-
To allow students to demonstrate their understanding and knowledge of construction, material, andtechnology.
Task
In this assignment, we were tasked with collaborating in a group of seven to produce orthographic drawings and models showcasing construction details of a double-storey terrace or corner lot house located in Malaysia. The tutor provided us with specific building materials such as concrete and timber, which were distributed among team members. Our goal was to create accurate and comprehensive representations of the chosen house, incorporating these materials in our designs and models.
PROGRESS OUTCOME
Drawings
At the beginning of the assignment, we initiated the process by engaging in thorough planning and delegating tasks among team members. I specifically took on the responsibility of making house in Revit and providing assistance in modelling As we completed the drawings or finalized them, we proceeded to focus on the modeling aspect of the project. During tutorial sessions, our team consistently sought feedback to identify areas of improvement in our drawings, demonstrating our commitment to enhancing the overall quality of our work.
Model
Once all the drawings were finalized, our team promptly shifted our focus back to the modeling phase. Taking reference from the floor plans, we carefully selected a section that would effectively highlight the materiality and construction details of the house. This section was chosen strategically to showcase the intricate aspects of the design, providing a comprehensive understanding of the chosen materials and construction techniques.

TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITIES
Engaging in a group assignment that involved collaborating with Interior students initially brought about a mix of excitement and nervousness. However, it turned out to be an incredibly positive experience as we had the opportunity to learn from one another. Architecture students played a supportive role by assisting and teaching the Interior students about drawing conventions and modeling techniques throughout the project. Despite encountering instances where some members were less active, we proactively found ways to ensure that our workflow remained uninterrupted and that work was distributed evenly among the team. This cooperative and inclusive approach allowed us to overcome challenges and maintain a harmonious working dynamic.

Effective communication is an essential aspect of this assignment, given the collaborative nature of working in teams. It is crucial for team members to establish open lines of communication to ensure that everyone is well-informed about the team's progress and objectives. Regular communication, in the form of reminders and check-ins, is maintained to ensure that all team members are on the right track and working towards the common goals. This proactive approach facilitates a cohesive and coordinated workflow, enabling the team to effectively tackle challenges and accomplish the assignment's requirements.
