DIGRAMMING ARCHITECTURAL PRINCIPLES
Architectural Design ll
The objectives of this project:
-
To identify architects and their works.
-
To analyze and ‘diagram’ architectural work of selected architect.
-
To produce basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames.
Task
In this assignment, we are tasked with working in a group of six individuals. Our objective is to select one building from the assignment brief and conduct a detailed analysis of its various aspects, such as identifying the main design intentions, understanding the structural elements, and exploring the underlying design principles. We will accomplish this by creating orthographic drawings and models that accurately represent the chosen building. The timeline for this task is one week, during which we will thoroughly investigate and document the architectural features and design elements of our selected building.
PROGRESS OUTCOME
Building Researches
As a group, we have made the decision to analyze the Wooden Cabin on Stilts by This selection will require us to conduct in-depth research and analysis of the design, as well as its surroundings. As the leader of our team, I have taken the initiative to create a schedule and promptly delegate tasks to team members. This swift action was necessary due to the time constraints we face, with the submission deadline approaching in just one week. By establishing a clear schedule and distributing responsibilities, we aim to ensure efficient progress and successful completion of the assignment within the given timeframe.
Diagrams & Drawing
Following our research, we proceeded to sketch out diagrams that would effectively convey our design analysis. We sought the approval and guidance of our tutor, Ms. Fadwin, to ensure the accuracy and clarity of our diagrams. To make our design analysis stand out, we explored various approaches and techniques, aiming to present the information in a unique yet comprehensible manner. Our goal was to capture the essence of the design and present our analysis in a visually engaging and informative way. By experimenting with different presentation styles, we aimed to create an impactful and memorable analysis of the Wooden Cabin on Stilts.
Model
Subsequently, we commenced the construction of models for our design analysis. This phase involved translating our research, sketches, and diagrams into physical representations of the Wooden Cabin on Stilts. By building models, we aimed to further explore and understand the spatial qualities, proportions, and materiality of the design. This hands-on approach allowed us to gain a deeper appreciation of the architectural elements and enhance our analysis. Through the process of constructing models, we were able to visually and tangibly communicate our findings and observations to effectively convey the essence of the Wooden Cabin on Stilts.

TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITIES
Through this assignment, I have gained valuable skills in analyzing architectural designs and effectively translating my understanding into diagrams and models. The opportunity to delve into the materiality and structural stability of our chosen structure, as well as other renowned structures, has been highly beneficial. This knowledge will undoubtedly assist me as I continue my journey in architecture, allowing me to approach future projects with a more informed and comprehensive perspective. Being able to research and understand the intricacies of different architectural elements will enable me to make well-informed decisions and contribute to the creation of robust and aesthetically pleasing designs.

During the course of this assignment, to foster a harmonious and efficient working environment within our team, we made the decision to go through each stage of the project together. This collaborative approach involved collectively planning, scheduling, sketching, modeling, and arranging the presentation boards. By doing so, we ensured that every team member had a clear understanding of the project's progress and the direction we were heading towards. This cohesive teamwork allowed for effective communication, minimized confusion, and promoted a sense of unity and shared responsibility among team members.
