DESIGNING WITH ARCHITECTURAL PPRINCIPLES + MATERIALITY
CONTEMPLATIVE PAVILLION
Architectural Design ll
The objectives of this project:
-
To identify architects and their works.
-
To analyze and ‘diagram’ architectural work of selected architect.
-
To produce basic architectural compositions of solids, planes, lines and frames.
Task
In this new project, we are once again working in a group, this time consisting of three members. Our task is to create a tropical discovery platform, utilizing the knowledge and skills we gained in Project 1, which involved diagramming, orthographic drawings, and modeling. Building upon our previous experience, we will apply our understanding of these techniques to develop a platform that explores and showcases the tropical environment. By leveraging our collective expertise, we aim to create an engaging and informative platform that promotes the discovery and appreciation of tropical landscapes.
PROGRESS OUTCOME
Background of Research
In our group, we have divided ourselves into different tasks to ensure efficient completion of our work. To facilitate effective collaboration and information sharing, we have created a shared Google Docs document where each team member compiles their research findings. This document allows us to have a centralized location where we can access and edit the content at any time. It promotes thorough understanding of each other's progress and helps us stay aligned and on the same track throughout the project. This collaborative approach ensures that we are all well-informed and can collectively contribute to the successful completion of our tasks.
Schedule Planning
In order to ensure that our model adheres to the given limitations and requirements, we conducted detailed calculations to strike a balance between providing an interesting user experience and avoiding any sense of constraint. We carefully considered the spatial aspects and made modifications to certain areas and designs to align with the specified requirements in the project brief. By maintaining a thoughtful approach, we aimed to create a model that not only meets the necessary criteria but also delivers an engaging and enjoyable user experience.
Presentation Board
After completing all the drawings and models, we proceeded to compile them on the presentation boards in a cohesive and organized manner. Working together as a team, we carefully arranged the drawings, ensuring they effectively communicated our design concepts and ideas to the reviewers. Given that this was a silent presentation, it was essential to visually convey our thoughts clearly through the boards. By collaborating physically, we ensured that the layout and arrangement of our boards were visually engaging and effectively conveyed the essence of our project to the reviewers.

TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITIES
Undoubtedly, as the team leader, I initially felt the pressure of guiding and coordinating our efforts within such a tight schedule. However, I learned the importance of creating a schedule that allowed team members to work effectively without feeling overly restricted, while still ensuring timely completion of our tasks. Moreover, I realized the significance of actively listening to others' opinions and fostering a supportive environment where team members could help one another. Despite the intensity of the second week of Semester 2, it was an engaging and captivating experience that provided valuable lessons and set the tone for the rest of the semester.

During the course of this assignment, to foster a harmonious and efficient working environment within our team, we made the decision to go through each stage of the project together. This collaborative approach involved collectively planning, scheduling, sketching, modeling, and arranging the presentation boards. By doing so, we ensured that every team member had a clear understanding of the project's progress and the direction we were heading towards. This cohesive teamwork allowed for effective communication, minimized confusion, and promoted a sense of unity and shared responsibility among team members.
