Passive Green Building Case Studies Poster & Booklet
Green Strategies for Building Design
The objectives of this project:
-
To critically appraise application of chosen strategies within different cases.
-
To analyze theories and principles of passive green building design strategies.

Task
n this project, we had to form a group of 6 members and choose two case studies on the application of passive sustainable design strategies within an architectural project; 1 from tropical climate region and 1 from polar climatic region. When we were deciding on the case studies, we suggested NUS SDE4 and it was chosen as our final choice for the case study from tropical climate region and Svalbard Science Centre as our another case study for polar climate region.
PROGRESS OUTCOME
To complete our assignment effectively, we first worked together while doing research and the overall layout of information, then splitted ourselves into small groups to complete the poster, the presentation slides and the booklet. I was in charge of the booklet. When we did the research, we were each in charge of a sub-topic. I was in charge of NUS SDE4's facade design.

We identified and compared the passive design strategies applied in both case studies, including factors of; site planning, day lighting, façade design, natural ventilation and strategic landscaping. We further analysed and elaborated the impact of these passive strategies on the quality and spatial experience of the chosen project. As an outcome, we produced an A0 infographic poster, pre-recorded presentation slides and an A3 landscape booklet demonstrating our findings.
FINAL OUTCOME
A3 BOOKLET
A0 POSTER

REFLECTION
TAYLOR’S GRADUATE CAPABILITIES
Through this project, I learnt and explained passive sustainable design, its green technologies and its applicable design strategies based on the case studies chosen. I also analyzed passive sustainable design strategies in relation to climate and culture and compared their impact on space and user experience.
